Hang Tough When Things Get Rough
August 2007 Breakthrough Session

When challenges come, how do you handle them? Do you obsess over them? Do you struggle with taking things in your own hands? Do you work at manipulating the circumstances to engineer the outcome you want? Handling challenges is an issue we must settle in our minds because otherwise we will try and run the show. God knows how we like to hold on to things we are not wise enough to control.

Control for us is usually manipulating the circumstances to engineer the outcomes we want. Control is not responsibility and God wants us to be responsible. Responsibility is doing our part. Proverbs 3:5-6 tells to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and lean not on our own understandings; in all our ways to acknowledge Him and He shall direct our paths. Notice the use of “shall”, it is a word of absolute action and that tells us there is no wavering or vacillating. God wants the best for all of us. He wants us to be more responsible in our spiritual lives as He guides us through the challenges of life. We have to learn to ‘Hang Tough When Things Get Rough’.

In order to be successful in the mist of facing challenges, we have to know what to do and know what our responsibility is. There are 4 C’s for hanging tough when things get rough: cry out, confess, consent and charge up on the inside.

So when things get tough and you are challenged, you have to:
• Face the challenges with determination.
• Don’t allow your doubts to cloud your determination.
• Tap into the “can do” power that God has placed inside you.
• Rest in God always.
• Give the enemy a nervous breakdown.
